This is a "Cutterman's Pin", awarded to Coast Guard members who have spent 5 consecutive years at sea. It was awarded to Dana by Capt. Howe
at the Library of Congress to commemorate her time with them. Folks will take a Ride Along with the Coast Guard, going to sea with them. Most
people last perhaps 3 days. Dana was aboard and at sea for 16 days, the longest anyone had been out with them. She's quite honored to have and wear the pin.
